5E Advanced Materials, Inc., a leading boron and lithium company with US government Critical Infrastructure designation for its 5E Boron Americas Complex, has announced the appointment of Mark Zamek to its senior leadership team as Vice President of Commercial Products.
Zamek brings more than 20 years of direct experience in the borates industry, having held senior roles across sales and marketing functions at some of the largest global borate producers.
His most recent role was as a consultant for Eti Maden, where he advised on commercial strategies and market expansion for US-focused boron operations.
Prior to that, Zamek spent over two decades in strategic sales and marketing roles with Rio Tinto’s US Borax, including serving as Key Global Accounts Manager, responsible for managing the company’s largest borates contract globally.
CEO welcomes new leadership addition
Paul Weibel, CEO of 5E Advanced Materials, expressed enthusiasm about Zamek’s appointment, stating: “We are excited to have Mark join our team, as his extensive experience and skillset will be a critical aspect of 5E’s commercial development.
“Mark’s expertise in the global borates markets will serve to strengthen and accelerate the execution of 5E’s commercial strategy as we look to leverage our initial production results to advance commercial contracting and off-take agreements with customers.
“As the Company’s strategic priorities evolve towards fully standing up the business and securing our debt financing, this appointment brings in a complementary skillset that is well-suited to facilitate and deepen 5E’s customer engagements and commercial partnerships.
“We are encouraged by the strategic and operational progress we have made in recent months, and this new addition to our leadership team will help 5E execute our vision of becoming a global leading supplier of boric acid and boron specialty materials.”
Strengthening 5E’s commercial strategy
As 5E continues to focus on its strategic priorities, including scaling up operations and securing debt financing, Zamek’s appointment is expected to enhance the company’s ability to engage with customers and build commercial partnerships.
With this new leadership role, 5E Advanced Materials is poised to further solidify its position as a key player in the boron and lithium markets, while continuing to make strategic and operational progress.
