Based in Montreal, Canada, Brunswick Exploration (TSX.V: BRW) is a company in the early stages of lithium exploration, needed for reducing carbon emissions and moving towards renewable energy.
Brunswick Exploration (BRW) is one of the few public companies actively looking for lithium in Canada.
The company is determined to locate lithium deposits using advanced technology such as satellite images and portable XRF geochemistry tools.
Brunswick Exploration believes in combining traditional lithium exploration methods with modern technology to achieve success.
Why is lithium exploration vital?
Lithium plays a crucial role in the worldwide effort to reduce carbon emissions, due to its pivotal role in lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles (EVs).
As the shift towards sustainability gains traction in the years to come, the demand for lithium will also continue to surge.
With rising demand and existing lithium mines nearing the end of their expected operational lifespan, it is clear that North America’s known lithium resources fall short of the required volume of lithium.
Therefore, it is important that new lithium deposits are discovered to bridge the gap in supply.
BRW’s greenfield exploration approach
Brunswick Exploration’s approach involves conducting large-scale, grassroots exploration rigorously and systematically for hard rock lithium in Canada.
The team undertakes greenfield exploration by compiling existing data and conducting research to pinpoint potential locations of interest.
Following this, the technical field team is mobilised to execute a prospecting programme, employing reliable field geology techniques to gather comprehensive observational data.
Brunswick Exploration aims to identify as many deposits as possible, thereby reinforcing Canada’s position as a key supplier in meeting global demand for resources necessary for effective decarbonisation.
The company made three notable lithium discoveries after successfully concluding its grassroots exploration programme in 2023. In 2024, its focus will shift to drilling these properties to further delineate their potential.
Significant discoveries
Brunswick Exploration has an extensive portfolio of different lithium exploration projects in Canada.
Having tested hundreds of areas, their three significant discoveries of the year – Mirage, Elrond, and Anatacau Main – all situated in the James Bay region of Quebec, validate their approach as highly effective for lithium exploration.
Mirage
The Mirage Project, spanning 427 claims totalling 21,230 hectares, lies approximately 40 kilometres south of Quebec’s Trans-Taiga Highway in the James Bay region.
The project has significant potential, with exploration unveiling high-grade spodumene outcrops.
The company plans for a 15,000-metre drill programme to further expand the area.
Elrond
The Elrond Project, encompassing 136 claims over 7,048 hectares, lies approximately 12 kilometres east of Quebec’s Billy Diamond Highway in the James Bay region and is part of Brunswick Exploration’s Mythril Option agreement with Midland Exploration Inc.
The company uncovered a new spodumene-bearing pegmatite, the Arwen showing, in autumn 2023, prompting plans for an inaugural drill programme in 2024 to test its potential.
Anatacau Main
In autumn 2022, Brunswick Exploration entered an option agreement with Osisko Development Corp. (TSX-V: ODEV) to acquire a 90% interest in the Anatacau Property, situated in Quebec’s James Bay-Eeyou Istchee region.
During the summer of 2023, the company unearthed a significant lithium pegmatite outcrop, known as the Anais showing, within a cluster of pegmatite dykes containing high-grade lithium mineralisation.
The discovery is positioned 22km east of BRW’s Anatacau West and Allkem’s James Bay Project along a large-scale E-W deformation corridor.
