Pau Farràs, the coordinator of ANEMEL, has assumed a new role as an ambassador for the European Innovation Council (EIC).
His appointment, announced at the 2024 EIC Summit during the Research and Innovation Week in Brussels, marks a significant stride in advancing European innovation internationally.
Role of an EIC ambassador
Selected by European Commissioner Iliana Ivanova, Farràs joins a cohort of 22 new EIC ambassadors tasked with championing the EIC’s initiatives until 2027.
His responsibilities involve leveraging his influence to bolster awareness and engagement with the EIC within European and global innovation ecosystems.
Serving as an EIC Ambassador is a voluntary commitment, requiring ambassadors like Farràs to remain informed of EIC programmes’ latest developments and impacts.
This knowledge equips them to effectively communicate and advocate for the EIC’s priorities across diverse networks, including participating in events and media engagement.
In addition to promoting the EIC’s objectives, ambassadors play a crucial role in providing feedback and insights to enhance the effectiveness of EIC programmes.
Farràs’ expertise will contribute to ongoing efforts to refine and improve the EIC’s initiatives for maximum impact.
A diverse and influential cohort
The community of ambassadors boasts gender balance and encompasses a diverse range of profiles pertinent to the EIC.
Farràs joins a distinguished group of ambassadors comprising 48 individuals, including 26 from previous cohorts who have extended their service.
This diverse community, representing 30 countries, includes former EIC board members, prominent beneficiaries, CEOs, and leading researchers, ensuring a comprehensive representation of voices and expertise relevant to the EIC’s mission.
