In a significant step for the future of energy, leading German companies in the field of fusion energy have joined forces to form the industrial association ‘Pro-Fusion.’
Representatives from 13 renowned firms, including Bilfinger Nuclear & Energy Transition GmbH, Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG, and Marvel Fusion GmbH, met in Nuremberg to officially launch the initiative. Their goal is to accelerate the commercialisation of fusion energy technology, which has long been heralded as a game-changer for sustainable energy production.
The creation of Pro-Fusion comes at a crucial time, as the feasibility of fusion energy is rapidly advancing. After decades of research and development, many experts believe the commercial use of fusion for energy production is finally within reach, bringing immense benefits to the environment, society, and the global economy.
The revolutionary potential of fusion energy
Fusion energy promises to offer several advantages over traditional energy sources. Unlike fossil fuels, fusion does not produce harmful carbon emissions, making it a key player in the fight against climate change.
The founding members of Pro-Fusion are convinced that this groundbreaking energy source is essential for future energy security and sustainability.
The companies involved include Focused Energy GmbH, MAN Energy Solutions SE, pro-beam GmbH & Co. KGaA, and Framatome GmbH, among others. Together, they aim to advance the fusion energy sector in Germany and globally.
Pro-Fusion’s mission and goals
Pro-Fusion will serve as the central representative body for Germany’s industrial interests in the fusion energy sector.
It seeks to shape public opinion, engage with political stakeholders, and address regulatory challenges to promote the development of fusion energy technologies.
The association’s primary goals include:
- Raising public awareness about the potential of fusion energy.
- Serving as a key contact for political figures and media outlets on all topics related to fusion energy.
- Contributing to the growth of the fusion energy ecosystem in both economic and regulatory frameworks.
Open to new members
Pro-Fusion is actively inviting other organisations and individuals interested in commercial fusion services to join the association.
Its founding board includes representatives from Marvel Fusion, Rolf Kind GmbH, Proxima Fusion GmbH, and Bilfinger, among others.
With a united industrial front, Pro-Fusion aims to make fusion energy a reality, helping to power a cleaner, greener future.
