London to Brighton EV Rally 2024 set to challenge barriers and accelerate change

The London to Brighton EV Rally is back for its fourth edition, promising an electrifying showcase of sustainable transport solutions.

Organised by Current PR Ltd and sponsored by EDF, this year’s London to Brighton EV Rally is set to be a milestone in the green revolution.

The event aims to challenge common misconceptions about EV driving range and showcase the latest developments in electrified transport.

100 cutting-edge electric vehicles to line up at the London to Brighton EV Rally

On June 22nd, 100 leading EVs will line up at the start line in Westminster, with all competitors flagging off at 8 am.

The thrilling journey will culminate at the renowned Madeira Drive in Brighton, where a display of EVs and festivities await spectators from 9 am to 4 pm.

The rally is more than just an energy trial; it’s an inclusive event inviting participants from various segments, including builders of road legal conversions, cyclists, inventors, and even electric planes.

The EVillage on Madeira Drive in Brighton will offer free test drives of a diverse range of electric vehicles, providing a hands-on experience for the public.

Councillor Trevor Muten, Chair of Brighton & Hove City Council’s Transport and Sustainability Committee, highlighted Brighton’s role in the EV transition: “The London to Brighton EV Rally is a fantastic event and a great chance to showcase the future of electric vehicle travel.

“We’re seeing steady growth in EV ownership, with more than 2,000 electric vehicles now registered in Brighton & Hove.

“The city already has one of the best EV charging infrastructures in the country, and we’re working to grow it even further. If funding bids are successful, we plan to install another 1650 chargers over the next three years.

“Introducing more sustainable and zero emission travel is crucial to reducing our environmental impact, to stop burning polluting fossil fuels and to improve our city’s air quality. Events like this are key to promoting the use of electric vehicles.”

Extended journey opportunity to Paris and Geneva

In a groundbreaking move, the EV Rally has announced its collaboration with sister company EV RALLY CLUB.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to extend their journey beyond Brighton. For those seeking an international adventure, EV RALLY CLUB will lead a convoy to Paris on June 23rd, with an overnight stop in Paris before reaching the final destination in Geneva on June 25th.

Tom Druitt, Founder of the EV RALLY CLUB, commented: “Having set up the London to Brighton Electric Vehicle Rally with Bill back in 2020, I always had the ambition to prove that electric vehicles are viable for long distances.

“This year, the EV RALLY CLUB is taking the rally to new heights, connecting participants from London to Geneva via Brighton and Paris. It’s a testament to the progress of EV technology that this is now possible.”

Quentin Willson to join as spokesperson and ambassador

The event will welcome Quentin Willson, former Top Gear host and advocate for green initiatives, as a spokesperson and ambassador.

Willson emphasised the strives made in EV innovation: “With the current levels of innovation and R&D, the next decade promises to be the most exciting in the entire 120-year history of the car.”
