MGH Offshore, an engineering and staffing company within the global energy sector, shares an insight into the company’s experienced background and key operations.
MGH Offshore is an electrical engineering, fire and gas safety, programme and project management company providing turnkey solutions to the global energy sector.
MGH was founded in 2017 as a staff and service provider to the global renewable energy sector. However, with a core background in oil and gas dating from the early part of this century and an offshore renewable background from the late 2000s, MGH quickly developed into a full scope electrical engineering company supporting all areas of the global energy sector both on and offshore.
Today, as well as providing consultancy, fire and gas safety, commissioning, staffing and maintenance services, MGH delivers expertise in the following fields:
- High voltage and low voltage systems;
- Fire and gas control detection systems;
- Fire suppression – gaseous – foam water mist;
- Quality control and remedials;
- Substation management and operations;
- Cable installation;
- Supervisory control and data acquisition systems (SCADA);
- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC);
- Helideck integrated fire fighting systems (DIFFS);
- QC sign off for fire and gas protection insurance purposes; and
- Planning and construction.
MGH now operates across Europe, providing a full scope of support and commissioning services to our clients.
Meet the team
Managing Director
Matthew Lynn established MGH in 2017 after 11 years as an electrical engineer in the oil, gas, and wind energy sectors. During this time, Lynn was also employed as an electrical technical engineer in marine operations. Lynn led MGH into offshore wind and was instrumental in taking the company into the floating offshore wind sector in late 2020.
Development Director
David Wilson was appointed to the role of Development Director in August 2022, after 20 years in business development across the defence, security, mining, and healthcare sectors. Prior to entering the industry, Wilson had a successful career of over 20 years as a military officer.
Fire and Gas Director
Jack Simpson is the former Managing Director of QJN Fire and Gas, which was acquired by MGH Offshore Ltd in October 2022. Simpson qualified as a Fire Safety Engineer with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in 2005. Simpson has spent 16 years delivering fire and gas protection services across the energy sector, including mineral exploration.

The global energy sector: 2023 so far
This year, to date, has been extremely busy for all within MGH. Within the first six months of 2023, we have already exceeded what we achieved in 2022, including doubling our team members to support our ongoing projects across Europe.
Highlights include:
NOF
Our engagement with NOF is going from strength to strength. With their support and reach, we have been able to attend events the length of the UK, focusing from The Wash to Berwick Upon Tweed, delivering our offerings and services to new clients within the offshore energy sector. Highlights have included speaking engagements, energy transition seminars, bespoke energy supplier conferences and the recent Scottish Supply Chain Conference in Glasgow.
Scottish Renewables
Our year started with joining Scottish Renewables and, with their support, our reach to new clients in Scotland has been excellent. New relationships have been developed across the energy sector focusing on offshore wind, including floating wind. The traction we have been able to develop has led to significant engagement with key organisations. Results include doubling our support to already existing programmes.
Core team
We continue to enhance our core team to support our service delivery growth. Joining the MGH core team this year is Mike Kramer.
Kramer has joined MGH Offshore as Sales and Marketing Director. Having spent the last 16 years in the offshore wind sector, Kramer has a background in offshore foundation fabrication and installation covering fixed and floating. He has also worked in subsea survey for cable routes and unexploded ordnance (UXO), also covering operation and maintenance (O&M), on numerous projects across Europe. Prior to entering the wind energy sector, Kramer spent over 20 years in heavy civil engineering.
Kramer joining the team allows MGH to have an active development presence in the southeast of England.
The success story within the global energy sector continues.
