As European countries increasingly consider stricter regulations on PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), the ZeroF Project is hosting a timely stakeholder webinar to address the urgent need for sustainable alternatives in the textile and packaging industries.
The event, titled ‘Challenges and PFAS-Free Solutions for the Textile and Packaging Industry,’ will take place on Thursday 17 October from 10:15-13:15 CET.
It will invite stakeholders, industry experts, and researchers to explore viable paths forward in the industry.
The increasing demand for PFAS-free solutions
The push for PFAS-free solutions is gaining momentum as European countries consider restrictions on these persistent chemicals due to environmental and health risks.
The European Union is taking decisive steps to phase out PFAS, underscoring the urgent need for industries to adopt safer, environmentally friendly and sustainable alternatives.
In response, the webinar will delve into the EU’s regulatory landscape, highlight ZeroF’s advancements in alternative coatings, and assess both societal and industry readiness for PFAS-free solutions.
An expert panel featuring leaders from the textile, packaging, and safety sectors will provide insights into the challenges and opportunities facing these industries.
Additionally, the event will include an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to engage directly with the ZeroF project team and expert panellists to discuss pathways forward. Registration is free, and interested participants can reserve their spots and view the full agenda here.
About the ZeroF Project
The ZeroF Project is dedicated to developing safe and sustainable-by-design (SSbD) coatings that effectively replace PFAS compounds in food packaging and upholstery textiles. These innovative coatings are engineered to provide robust resistance to oil and grease in packaging applications while enhancing both water and oil repellency in textiles.
The project emphasises the use of renewable feedstocks and non-toxic materials, aiming to limit cost increases to 20% compared to existing alternatives. This ambitious initiative is made possible through the collaboration of 12 research and industry partners from nine countries across Europe.
